Photographers
Both amateur and professional photographers, from anywhere in the world, are eligible to enter the competition. To enter the competition, a photographer must sign up, agree to these rules, agree to the terms, and upload his or her photographs to the competition website at http://www.epoty.com/.
Photographs
Photographs must be uploaded to the competition website as jpeg files, no more than 250 kilobytes in size and no more than 600 pixels in length and/or width. Photographs that originated on film are eligible, but must be scanned and uploaded as jpeg files. Both color and black-and-white photographs are eligible. Manipulated photographs are also eligible, but manipulation is limited to brightness, color, contrast, and perspective corrections, cropping, and removal of blemishes (dust, chemical stains, and dead pixels).
Categories
The Environment Photographer of the Year Photography Competition consists of four categories. A photographer may enter up to four photographs in each category, and must specify in which category he or she is entering each photograph (by clicking the relevant button next to each uploaded photograph, then clicking the Save changes button), or else said photograph will not be judged. IPTC and EXIF data will not be considered, and is not required, but images will not be penalized for carrying it.
Captions
Captions are optional. A photograph will still be judged if it does not have a caption, but judges will be able to read the caption when judging a photograph, and a caption could clarify to them its relevance or significance.
Entry Fee
The entry fee is £5 GBP (approximately $10 USD) if the photographer submits photographs in one category only, or £10 GBP (approximately $20 USD) if the photographer submits photographs in more than one category. The entry fee must be paid through PayPal, through its secure website, www.paypal.co.uk (no PayPal account is required, and PayPal will not charge the photographer). It is possible to pay in a currency other than GBP (for example, USD) through PayPal. The photographer will be prompted to pay the entry fee only after his or her photographs have been uploaded, prepared, and submitted, and a link will then guide the photographer to PayPal. If the entry fee has not been received by the deadline, the photographs will not be judged. The entry fee is not refundable.
